Anyone still here?...lol...So what about primitive fish hooks? Anyone made any and tried them out? I made some "brim" hooks by cutting slivers of horn 1/8" wide or so and use heat to bend it to hook shape. Werent all that strong but worked good on brim. Thats about the only ones ive had any luck with....i have a few stocked farm ponds so im always trying new hooks.

Yeah, i tried bone one time and it was a BEAR to carve! I ended up useing a hacksaw and sandpaper...lol...and lost the dang thing before i ever got to try it. Im in the process of trying to make different primitive hooks without useing anything modern...just to see if i could if i had to. I know the horn works great and simple to make but how often does a person come across horn in the wilds? After i get a few different ones made, i'll give them a try and post the results.
