Heres how to make an end blown flute. Instead of trying to get the angle right, just blow in the end... Fist cut a piece of cane/bamboo about 18-24" long and 1-1/2 to 2" in diameter. You want to cut it so there is a node 4" or so from one end....the other end dont matter. Next, drill two 1/4" holes. One on each side of the 4" node and bust out the other nodes. Make the hole towards the long end oval. Next, carve a "U" shaped piece and a piece to cover it with... Next, hold the pieces of the "reed" together over the holes...slide them back and forth till you find the spot where its the loudest...then lash em down. I drilled the finger holes 1-1/2" apart but i dont remember the measurements from the end...just use these pics as a scale. What happens is when you blow in the end, the node forces the air up and into the "reed" and the reed channels the air over the second hole. Instead of blowing sideways and trying to get the angle right, just blow into the end. Works great and fun to make...shane
